Reclaiming YOUR Time

Reclaiming your time is something that everyone struggles with. We tend to find ourselves willing to help others more than we help ourselves. My counselor told me to start saying "NO!" because I am always taking on more than I should just to make sure that everyone is okay and taken care of, before myself.

“In the end, it is important to remember that we cannot become what we need to be, by remaining what we are.”

This was said by Max DePree. I live by this quote. If I continue to keep putting myself on the back burner and allowing everything else in my life to come first, then I am neglecting myself. I'm hurting myself by not saying "NO!" We need days just for us! Not for anyone else! We need to be able to sit down at least twice a day for 5 minutes and "Reclaim Our Time"!

Reflection….

All my life I have NEVER lived for myself. Growing up, I stayed in trouble. After a while of being on punishment, I decided to start "listening" to my mom and be the person she wanted me to be. I started doing this heavily through high school. Once college started, I got kicked out my of the house again in December 2014. After that, I started my transformation and still ended up failing myself until recently. I moved out my mom's house Aug 2016. This was a good decision for me. Still abiding by her rules although I'm not under the same roof was challenging for me until May 31, 2017, came.

On my 21st birthday, I started to do for Kyy and not for anyone else. Reckoned I have been on my own for a year now and neither one of parents pay my bills. (I got my own phone bill when I was 18 because my dad told me in December 2014 "Your not broke you just want a new phone. If you want a new phone get your own plan." In February 2015, I did just that!) I finally got my nose and industrial pierced. Booooooyyyyy was my mother pissed about that! But I've been wanting it since high school and living under her roof, but it wasn't going to happen!

It took me twenty-one years to let go of everything and to start living for myself! I reclaimed my time and been traveling stress-free all summer long! So, yes it does take time...some longer than others. Until the day you say "This is my life. I am human. I am going to make mistakes. My life isn't perfect nor the best BUT it's mines!! I'm going to do what makes me happy and not others! I come first!", that will be the day you start to notice things you have never seen. It has been right in your face this whole time!
