Hey Sol Warriors! Happy Thursday!
This week's topic is Seasonal Depression.
Today's topic is "How to help someone with Seasonal Depression?"
When someone is dealing with seasonal depression it is the same symptoms as regular depression. So instead of trying to do something differently you literally have to do the same as if you would with someone with depression. The only difference between the two is a person who deals with depression happens all year round while someone who deals with seasonal depression deals with it during a certain time of the year. Now someone who deals with depression and seasonal depression means that we have a tougher time during the seasonal depression because of the events that happened to us during that time.
If you have started to notice that someone is acting differently or even if someone opens up to you about being in a depressive episode, instead of asking them if you need anything let me know. Ask if they have eaten and if they say no then buy them something to eat so they can at least have something on their stomach. Don't ask if they are okay but say "I noticed that you have been down lately. I don't want you to think that you are alone so I am here for you when you are ready to talk."
It's not what you say its how you say and your actions afterward. Everyone cannot handle mental health issues, but if you want to try give it your all. Allow yourself to be just as vulnerable as they are and please do not dismiss their feelings because something is more pressing in your life than it is in theirs. You do not know what is bottled up inside of them that is taking them on a dark path.
“I understand your pain. Trust me, I do. I’ve seen people go from the darkest moments in their lives to living a happy, fulfilling life. You can do it too. I believe in you. You are not a burden. You will NEVER BE a burden.” — Sophie Turner
