Hey Sol Warriors! Happy Tuesday!
How has your weekend been?
This week's topic is Seasonal Depression.
Seasonal Depression is a mood disorder characterized by depression that occurs at the same time every year.
People who have seasonal depression tend to not like a certain season. For me, I have a love/hate relationship with fall and winter starting around the end of August. I normally do not shake out of this depressive episode until March some time because during Sept-March a lot of life-changing events happened to me and I try to act as if nothing is wrong when in all honesty the world is sitting heavy on my shoulders and I cannot do anything about it. Now the reason I said I have a love/hate relationship with it is that I love fall clothing so I try to mask my feelings with a cute outfit to make it seem as if nothing is wrong. Now realistically it doesn't play a major part in anything but it does make it a little better.
“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.” ― Lisa Olivera
I want you to think about you or anyone you spend the most time with, does your or their mood change during a certain time of the year? Do you notice the following:
Become emotionally distant
Social Withdraws
More quiet than usual
Decreased appetite
Sleeping a lot or a little
Concentration problems
Fatigue or lack of energy
Loss of interest in daily/favorite activities
These are just some not all of the signs that you may be experiencing seasonal depression. You will get through this and please reach out to someone that you trust. You are not alone and there are people here that are ready to listen to you.
